Treatments & Methods

The Chinese believe that the body has an energy force running throughout it. This energy force is known as Qi. The Qi consists of all essential life activities which include the spiritual, emotional, mental and physical aspects of life. A person’s health is influenced by the flow of Qi in the body, in combination with the universal forces of Yin and Yang. If the flow of Qi is insufficient, unbalanced or interrupted, Yin and Yang become unbalanced and illness may occur.

At the Academy of Oriental Medicine, we strive to rebalance your Qi and diminish any illness from which you may suffer. We use techniques and treatments that have been proven to work for at least the last five thousand years.

What’s involved in your treatment?

Each session is tailored to your own personal needs, and the following methods can be used to bring you back to health.

  • Acupuncture - To fix long term problems and re-energize the body.
  • Tuina - To release tension and re-educate the body.
  • Muscular Skeletal Diagnosis - To diagnose any imbalances in the structure and makeup of the body.
  • Amma - To tonify and promote repair.
  • Internal Organ Massage – To balance the organs and release toxins and tensions.
  • Kenkujutsu Cranial Balancing - Reshaping the skeleton and ensuring that you stay pain free.
  • Massage - To ease off tight muscles and leave you feeling healthy and relaxed.
  • Herbs - To compliment the aforementioned therapies.

Oriental Medicine is first and foremost based on preventative measures. We boast an expert knowledge of injury prevention and management as used by the Football Premier League and professionals alike.

Through our diagnosis we are able to determine the body’s weaknesses, which will invariably lead to sickness or pain. By applying the appropriate treatment we are able to subsequently keep that person healthy, focused and working. This can dramatically reduce the amount of lost working hours and income due to sickness.

Oriental Medicine treats the body as a whole. Excessive stress can lead to a wide range of physical and mental problems, including organ and muscular dysfunction (a few examples are Irritable Bowel Sydrome (IBS) and Sciatica). With specialised treatments and advice utilising our expertise at the Academy, these and many other conditions can be easily treated.

The Academy of Oriental Medicine has been working with, and advising the Institute of Complimentary Medicine (ICM) to develop one of the most comprehensive treatments in the United Kingdom and China to date and to oversee the safe practice and procedures of Oriental Medicine across the UK. We also provide our expert advice to the BBC.
